About the Religious Studies Program

AZBCS offers Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies. This degree is obtained by having completed 60 (AA) or 108 (BA) credit hours of college study in the program without transfer credits. This course of study is considered the pastorate or ministry leadership program. This degree can lead towards ordination with General Conference of the Evangelical Baptist Church.

A call to ministry is the understanding and acceptance of one's purpose in God's plan. It is the coming together of a ministry need and the gifts of a person to meet the need. The experience of being called is a powerful and awesome experience. The Religious Study degree prepares individuals for ministry leadership, in a less costly, less time-consuming fashion, and in a way that honors and supports the contexts from which leaders come and to which they are called. Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:37-38). The harvest is more plentiful than we can imagine.

Arizona Bible College and Seminary has been charged with the mission to recruit, guide and train students who aspire to the pastoral ministry through their pre-seminary and seminary training. This degree will lead to ordination and it is our desire to prepare those called for new challenges and new careers serving in ministry.

Our goal is to accomplish three things in the life of our students in training:

1. Have knowledge of the Word of God.

2. The purpose is to make us “perfect”. This means to complete, sufficient, completely qualified, thoroughly equipped. God’s Word gives us the necessary inspiration to be capable in performing every good work.

3. Tools to accomplish the task. Finally, it is our purpose that we give each student the tools, both spiritually and practically, that he or she needs to accomplish His call on their lives.
